The east

prohibited due to concerns that debris may fall while the bridge is being
demolished. The demolition will not affect traffic on the detour bridge, the
portion of the new bridge that has been constructed so far, or the adjacent

Old Town's Tax Revaluation Process
And the Impact on Your Tax Bill
Background
The Maine Constitution states that all taxes upon
real estate and personal property, assessed by authority of the State,
shall be apportioned and assessed equally according to the just value

synonymous with market value and is achieved by reviewing all
values against a relevant sampling of recent market sales. The process
is called a revaluation and brings equity in all the assessments back in
line based on market value. The Maine Constitution also states that
“general valuations” are to take place at least once every ten years.

Boosters needs “boost” from community
September
6, 2006
When it comes
to supporting Old Town school sports, the Boosters have always been on the
fundraising frontline. But, according to member Dottie deBruyne, the Boosters
could use a little help themselves these days. DeBruyne has been active in the
organization for eleven years, ever since she and her family moved to Old Town
in 1995. In that time, she says, she has seen the Boosters membership steadily
decrease to the point where, now, there are only five core members who share the
regular workload that goes into “boosting” the city’s sports teams. Another five
or six are considered “fringe” members, who can be called on if the need arises,
but who do not attend all Booster functions.
